Malagana to San Onofre

Again, I had a pretty good ride. I got off at a reasonable hour. The road started good and flat. Again, I had a little overcast in the skies which helped, but my legs were tired to start. I thought I might be able ride to Tolú, but I was having difficulties 10 km outside of San Onofre. Again, I had fortune as I was rescued by a rain storm. The rain cooled the air and me; helping me finish the distance to San Onofre. I need to remember that I am not in quite the shape I would like to be. I will have to decide in the morning if I should continue onto Tolú or let my legs rest for a day.

The rain also soaked my phone as I found out the pocket on my hydropack is not waterproof. I may need to look for a new phone tomorrow.

Also, on this ride I saw some of what I believe will be among the poorest villages that I expect to see. A number of these were groups of homes which were essentially a roof with four walls and an open door; probably a dirt floor. If you were a child born into one of these villages, the only way you would likely ever know the possibility of changing your situation would be through school. The parents of these children simply do not have the tools to help their children improve their lot in life.

Interestingly enough the woman at the hotel in San Onofre where I am staying says that she sees a lot of touring bikers here from all over the world. I have yet to see one so far.
